This program will help your child develop essential skills they can apply to every area of life: confidence, focus, and real discipline that lasts.
Teaching kids to navigate peer pressure, tough friendships, and their own self-doubt is one of the hardest parts of parenting, and it doesn't get easier as they get older.
At 1MR, this program is built to be the perfect companion: a place where confidence, focus, and self-discipline get built in, one class at a time.
Parenting shouldn't be a stressful task you face alone. Let 1MR help equip your child for the real world.
The foundation of the curriculum for Ages 9โ14 is the education and development of life skills: positive mental attitude, high goal setting, perseverance, self-control, and confidence.

Start your child's martial arts journey!
1MR St. Petersburg already has an active tournament team. Kids who've earned their way onto it represent the gym in real competitions. That's the kind of program this is: built for real progress, not just participation.
Learning to work effectively as part of a team.
Improved coordination and a great form of exercise.
Building routines early that prevent burnout later.
Belt testing gives kids a real exercise in setting and achieving goals. Self-esteem rises with every earned stripe.
The physical demands of martial arts help kids strengthen focus and self-control, especially valuable for kids who struggle to sit still.
The structure of martial arts teaches respect in ways that carry over into better listening at school and at home.

1MR's kids program runs ages 4โ17, split by age group so development stays age-appropriate at every stage. This lets each group progress at a rate suitable for their level, and keeps the whole program cohesive socially.
At this age, reinforcing the respect and discipline they're building in class (at home, with siblings, with teachers) makes the biggest difference. Encouraging consistency, showing up even when they don't feel like it, matters more now than it did at 4โ8.
Classes at this age focus on developing mind and body together: more advanced drills, real partner work, and a growing emphasis on respect for coaches and peers. Kids at this level often start taking on small leadership roles, helping guide the younger kids coming up behind them.
Often, yes. Built-in structure, a coach who notices effort, and a peer group working toward the same goals can be exactly the kind of steady footing a kid needs when things feel shaky elsewhere.
Yes. 1MR St. Petersburg has an active Tournament Team. Like the rest of our advancement path, it's by coach invitation: kids who show real progress get invited to join and compete representing the gym.
Memberships are flexible, based on your commitment length and how many classes per month work for your family. To get the most out of the program (real progress and consistency), we recommend training at least 3 times a week.
You'll get an email with instructions to schedule, and a coach will follow up to help book a time that works for your family.
